Wood moves & never stops

Wood moves when it absorbs or loses moisture from the surrounding. Wood expands in the summer and shrinks in the winter. For instance, an oak wood (Hard wood) in a North America, it shrinks and swells about 1/4 in. across 12 in. Finishes will reduce movement, but won’t eliminate it.
