For this piece, I started carving a thin and small piece of Douglas Fir wood without having any end goal. It was a trial for practicing my hand carving. I saw many hand wood carving clips on the internet and found that most times, people carve against the grains of woods as it is easier. But when I saw this piece, I liked its grain and wanted to carve along with it, not against. The outcome was surprising! Given it’s size, I labeled it as a tidy dish, but will experiment with larger pieces of Douglas Fir wood later on!
